St. Madeleine Sophie’s Vision

MSB2St. Madeleine Sophie Barat, the founder of the Society of the Sacred Heart, is the impetus behind our educational vision.

This week, in anticipation of her Feast Day in May, some Sixth Class students presented a play about Madeleine Sophie’s life. Under the direction of Sister Munch, they provided a beautiful reminder of our roots, for which we are all grateful.

The play provides an opportunity to reflect on Mother Barat’s vision. Though developed in the crucible of the French Revolution, Sacred Heart education has become even more relevant in the 21st Century. The goal is the same, to provide a well-rounded education—strong in studies, strong in the formation of character, and strong in the formation of the interior life of each child (the development of each child’s personal relationship with God, through Christ).

One key aspect of Mother Barat’s vision is that the development of each student in all these areas of life was meant not just for the sake of the child, but for the sake of our world!

May her vision root each of us in our daily desires and duties,

— Sister Glavin
