These days are filled with many displays of LEADERSHIP as we experience much JOY in the midst of it all:
• Last Friday we were blessed with fabulous weather for the joy of Field Day.
• Monday we celebrated St. Madeleine Sophie Barat’s Feast Day with a beautiful, inspiring and educational Prayer Service led by the Social Justice and Student Council leadership teams.
• Following the prayer service our students became generous donors in a joy-filled day of leadership-in-action as they ran the Mission Day booths they had spent time planning.
• Tuesday we celebrated with our Eighth Class families as our soon-to-be graduates thanked their parents for their Sacred Heart education at the Graduation Dinner.
• Wednesday our Social Justice committee executed their leadership in a reflective conversation in the Conference Room, deciding which organizations would be the recipients of the Mission Day monies.
• Today we honored Mary, our Mother, with our May Crowning Liturgy and May Crowning Ceremony.
• Today we also joyfully honored beauty in the Eighth Class and Second Class girls’ performance of our Maypole Dance.
• Tomorrow we will joyfully honor all of our Eighth Class students with our most traditional and formal ceremony of the year—the Eighth Class Prize Day Ceremony (the 198th Distribution of Prizes at the Academy of the Sacred Heart, St. Charles!).
• Finally, on Saturday morning, we will culminate our week of joy with a Graduation Liturgy followed by Distribution of Graduation Certificates, a welcome into the Alum Association and a Graduation Reception in the Rose Garden.
I offer my heartfelt congratulations to each student who has displayed leadership in any of the above activities. I can say with certainty that every one of our Eighth Class students is among them! We send them off with gratitude, love, pride and, yes, JOY in their ongoing becoming of who they are meant to be. We are grateful for the joy we have experienced in the journey…especially in the journey of these final special days and moments!
