The last Parent Goûter Gathering will take place this evening with our oldest students’ parents. Mrs. Renken and I have thoroughly enjoyed each and every one of these reflective conversations. For those parents who have been unable to attend, meeting notes have been posted in the appropriate grade level Parent Portal space. Thank you to PCC President Jennifer Ruffino for attending every meeting and preparing notes.
Here are a few topics that have come to light from the first four meetings:
- Parenting struggles and parenting tips were shared. Depending on the grade level, these ranged from how to motivate children to get out of bed, how to remove grass stains from boys pants, how best to monitor internet and social media activity, and what we can all do to support our children’s growth into self-reliance.
- Simple, easy-to-implement suggestions were made to the school, e.g., opening the new gates consistently for PP early dismissal.
- Positive feedback was provided regarding what parents are seeing in relation to their children’s growth and development: seeing children model “ASH behavior” outside of school, and accolades to many, many teachers!
- Some parents requested increased attention to communication between teachers and parents.
- Conversation regarding the importance of time spent on emotional and relational skills occurred. Strategies were shared. It is not uncommon for children to make relational mistakes. Using those mistakes as opportunities to redirect and form our children’s attitudes and actions is what we hope and want to do. And, it takes all of us!
Thank you for your partnership in the process. These conversations help all of us as we continue to educate hearts and minds in an increasingly complex world!
United in His Heart,
