Dear Academy of the Sacred Heart Community,
Following up on our last communication, I want to share with you the details of our search professionals’ upcoming visit to the Academy of the Sacred Heart. In this Search Committee update you will also learn about a survey that you are encouraged to complete and the launch of the search webpage.
Search Consultant Visit
Risa Oganesoff Heersche and Mathew Heersche with Educational Directions will be visiting the Academy to learn more about our school and its community as part of the search process. They are scheduled to be on campus Thursday, September 30 and Friday, October 1. The purpose of their visit is to learn as much as possible about our community as well as to identify the opportunities for the new Head of School and qualities sought in this individual.
Matt and Risa will be spending time with members of many groups within the school community, including current parents, faculty, staff, the leadership team, students, and alumni. Among other things, Matt and Risa will be asking the following questions:
- What do we seek in our next leader?
- What is the culture of the Academy?
- What are the perceived challenges and opportunities of the school?
- Where do we, as a school, want to be in five years?
- What experience, skills and leadership styles will best meet those needs within our culture?
Current Academy parents, please plan to attend one of the following sessions and share your thoughts on these questions with Matt and Risa:
Thursday, September 30, 4 – 5 p.m. | Cribbin Hall Library
Friday, October 1: 8 – 9 a.m. | Cribbin Hall Library
Additional meetings with the faculty and staff, leadership team, Parent Coordinating Council, and Alumni Coordinating Council have been scheduled separately.
Survey
In addition to the in-person meetings, we are providing an opportunity for your input through an online survey. The survey can be accessed at Academy of the Sacred Heart Head Search Survey. Please complete the survey by Sunday, October 10.
From the information gathered through this process, Mathew and Risa, with the Search Committee, will develop a position profile which will be used as a marketing tool for this wonderful opportunity. The position profile will be shared with the Academy community through the Head of School Search webpage.

A dedicated Head of School Search webpage has been launched at which you can find recent announcements from the Search Committee, past communications regarding the search, the position profile (once completed), and other information regarding the search process. Please take a look at the search site now, and check in once in a while for updates.
Thank you for your attention to the search-related emails. I hope that you will participate in the survey and – for our current parents – we welcome your input on September 30 and October 1. We all have an interest in the future of the Academy and your input on how that future is shaped and led is respectfully sought in this search process.
