The Academy community mourns the sudden loss of and requests prayers for the repose of the soul of Cindy Cannon Brooks, mother of Robby (7th Class), Mark ’13, Peter ’11, and Carrie ’08; loving wife of John Brooks, devoted daughter of Dr. Richard and Jane Cannon, beloved sister of Angie Cannon ’74, Carol Cannon ’77, and Erin Cannon Chave ’85; and lifelong friend to her Sacred Heart classmates in the Class of 1975. Marita Freymuth Malone, Class of ’68, has written a memoir that was recently published by Amazon.com. My Mother, My Daughter has been described as “a fascinating and insightful adoption story.”
Plan now to join us for a Wine and Cheese Book Review on Sunday, September 13 from 3–5 p.m., as Marita talks about her five-years-in-the-making book. RSVP to Alumni Director Jane Cannon.
Faculty will be returning this week to prepare for the new school year! We happily anticipate the start of the 2015-2016 year on Wednesday, August 19, when First through Eighth Class students begin. Primary students will arrive Thursday, August 20 (half days the 20th and 21st) and Pre-Primaries (and Stay & Play) on Monday, August 24.
But before classes begin, we look forward to welcoming parents at the Pre-Primary Lemonade Party on Tuesday, August 11 (6 p.m.), the Primary Parent Orientation on Thursday, August 13 (7 p.m.), and the all-school Open House on Monday, August 17 (5-7 p.m.).
The Klakovich family is featured in the August issue of Catholic St. Louis magazine. “Reinforced by Faith” describes how Vince, Desiree, Faith and Anna prioritize their faith in the midst of their busy schedules. (It was written by Colleen Dulle, a 2009 Academy graduate and student at Loyola University New Orleans; she’s interning at the St. Louis Review this summer.)
