The Academy community extends heartfelt sympathy to the family of Dr. Richard Cannon, who died Nov. 26. Dr. Cannon was a mainstay at many Academy events, providing cheerful assistance and support to Jane, his wife of 58 years, in her role as Alumni Director. Celebrating St. Philippine’s Feast
All are welcome to join the Academy community in celebrating the Feast of St. Philippine Duchesne on Friday, Nov. 17. All-school liturgy in Rauch Memorial Gym will begin at 9:30 a.m. The Alumni Association will sponsor Eucharistic Adoration in the Shrine, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Friday through Saturday, Nov. 18 at 8 a.m. Adoration will conclude on Saturday with a closing mass that will launch the Alumni Day of Service. Rest in Peace, Dr. Clever
The Academy community extends heartfelt sympathy to the family of Henry W. Clever, M.D., who died Nov. 6, 2017. Dr. Clever was a longtime member of our school community and served through the years on various committees, including the Board of Trustees and capital campaigns. Nine of his 11 children are Academy alumni—Roseann “Missy” C. Ogden ’72 (9th), Geralyn C. Deken ’74, Cathy ’76, Marguerite C. Stewart ’78, Madeleine C. Appelbaum ’79, Maria C. Hill ’81, Russell ’83, Elizabeth C. Hogan ’84, and Paul ’86—as are several of his 43 grandchildren. Our prayers are extended to Dr. Clever’s wife, Roseann, and the entire Clever family. Grant from Boeing
The Academy has been awarded a grant from the Employees Community Fund of Boeing St. Louis to purchase eight Windows 10 Chrome Books Alternatives and eight LEGO Mindstorms Education Core Sets for our Robotics Club. This $5,360 grant will enable Robotics participants to greatly increase their proficiency in logical and critical thinking, software programming skills, collaboration skills and the understanding of engineering skills. We are very grateful to the Boeing Corporation and to Boeing employees who support the Employees Community Fund.

Mass of the Holy Spirit is the traditional liturgical celebration that opens the school year in Sacred Heart schools around the world. This year’s Mass of the Holy Spirit marks the beginning of the Academy’s 200th year of Sacred Heart education.
