Alumni Congé 2017

July 18, 2017

It was a beautiful summer evening to celebrate our alums for Congé Reunion! More than 100 alums and guests attended our annual gathering to recognize reunion classes, renew connections and share Sacred Heart camaraderie. Prior to mass, a packed Cribbin Hall Library was the site for Jane Cannon’s preview of her forthcoming book, Two Hundred Years: A Legacy of Love and Learning. Guests were treated to dozens of images from the archives as well as little-known facts and touching stories.

Alumni Contribute 60+ Baskets to Needy Families

December 21, 2016

Ask many alums what their favorite Academy tradition is and “Christmas Baskets” is a frequent reply. To recall these special memories, since 2013 ASH alums have responded to the invitation to participate in the Academy’s annual appeal for Christmas baskets. And this year’s generous response was overwhelming, resulting in 63 baskets overflowing with food for needy families in the area!

Winning Essays

December 9, 2016

It was a heartwarming moment for our RSCJ when two ASH graduates were recognized in the 2016 “Stories of Our St. Louis Sisters” essay contest. Matilda “Tilly” Glascock, a sophomore at Cor Jesu (shown at right in photo), won for her essay about Sister Maureen Glavin. Jessica Skinker, a senior at Incarnate Word Academy, won for her essay about Sister Margaret Munch. Sister Glavin attended the awards ceremony at Incarnate Word, at which five of the winning essays were read aloud. Essays were judged by women religious.

In its fourth year, “Stories of Our St. Louis Sisters” is sponsored by the Incarnate Word Foundation and supported by the Catholic Education Office. It seeks to celebrate the contributions of women religious in the Archdiocese.

Congratulations to Tilly and Jessica! CLICK HERE to read their winning essays.

Day of Service

December 7, 2016

On Saturday, Nov. 19, alums took part in our annual Day of Service in celebration of Philippine’s Feast. After a morning mass in the Shrine, which concluded the 24-Hour Eucharistic Adoration, alums headed to Our Lady’s Inn (providing homeless pregnant women and their children shelter) and Karen House (a Catholic Worker house of hospitality for homeless women and children) to paint, deep clean, provide lunch and move furniture. Each site was very grateful for our help and one wrote, “Yesterday was a huge success because of you all. Thank you all so much again. Our house is our home and Sacred Hearts are always welcome.” We are happy to honor Philippine by serving others!

AASH Southern Regional Conference

September 29, 2016

St. Charles alums enjoyed a truly special AASH Southern Regional Conference, “Remembrance and Renewal in the Land of Philippine,” Sept. 23–24. The event began at Old St. Ferdinand Shrine in Florissant, where St. Philippine lived for 14 years, and a place that was very dear to her. She even made an appearance to welcome alums! It was a wonderful weekend to renew Sacred Heart connections!

Class of 2016 Memory Books

September 1, 2016

It was great to see so many of the members of the Class of 2016 return recently for their Memory Book Party. Classmates caught up, swapped high school stories and enjoyed looking through their new Memory Books. They were welcomed by Charla Dziedzic, Alumni President, and learned more about being members of the Academy’s Alumni Association. It was a fun afternoon with friends!

Special thanks to Ms. Alexander, Mrs. Booher, Mrs. Coffman, Mrs. Dee and Mrs. Thomas for putting together a wonderful keepsake for the Class of 2016!
