Just a reminder that all are invited to attend the memorial for Sister Patricia Thro on Tuesday, May 12 at 4 p.m. It will be celebrated in Huttig Chapel at Maryville University, where she served for many years as a math and science professor, in addition to holding administrative roles. A reception will follow in the Gander President’s Conference Center.
Sister Thro died Monday, March 9, at Oakwood, the Society of the Sacred Heart’s elder care center in Atherton, Calif. She was a 1955 graduate of the Academy and entered the Society in 1957. Her many years of scholarly service in New Orleans and St. Louis included eight years as President of the Academy’s Board of Trustees. Before moving to the Society’s elder care center in Atherton, CA, she spent several years as an organist for the Shrine and helping in the Academy book store.
