In the Footsteps of Philippine

Eighteen of our faculty and staff members recently embarked on a two-day pilgrimage to Kansas to visit places of historical significance to St. Philippine Duchesne and the Society of the Sacred Heart.

Led by Sr. Margaret Munch, the journey included Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mound City, the mission in Sugar Creek (where Philippine spent a year (1841-42) with the Potawatomi Indians) and St. Mary’s, location of the “skyscraper of the prairie” built by the Society of the Sacred Heart in 1870.

Megan McGraugh Horner ’78 said, “What a privilege it was to walk in Philippine’s footsteps with Sr. Munch and these friends and colleagues! Feeling very blessed.”
