Alumni Day of Service Impacts the Community

More than 30 alums as well as parents of alums and friends participated in our Alumni Day of Service in honor of Philippine’s Feast on Saturday, Nov. 16.

Alumni donated items and cash, made casseroles and pies and spent the day together helping others. This year’s results impacted many individuals in our community:

• 9 fleece blankets completed for Youth in Need
• 12 JUMBO bags of leaves raked (plus several plastic bins filled with leaves and debris) to prepare the pavilion area behind the nuns’ residence as an outdoor classroom for students in the spring
• 38 “Simple Gifts” bags assembled with personal hygiene items for Youth in Need and Community Living clients
• 85 traditional Thanksgiving meals served at the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen prepared with love by our alumni crew

Thank you to Diane Carroll Boerding ’76 for coordinating these projects. Beyond helping those in the community, we are also building community among alumni, parents of alums and friends. Philippine is proud of her children for making God’s love visible in our world!
