What a beautiful evening we had May 5 at our annual Chemin de Fer auction, as hundreds of guests gathered to celebrate two centuries of Sacred Heart love and learning.
Last year’s auction theme, “France, Our Story Begins,” was a nod to the Religious of the Sacred Heart’s commitment to bring education to the New World; this year’s bicentennial theme was a celebration of their arrival in St. Charles and subsequent 200 years of Sacred Heart education. Rauch Memorial was transformed into what the tiny village must have been like on a starry night in September 1818, the month of St. Phillippine’s arrival. The scenes were lifelike and inspiring.
Our deep gratitude to Chemin de Fer Chairs Jeff and Heather Locker and Co-Chairs Jean-Marc (’88) and Andriana Thro for steering a pitch-perfect evening that successfully celebrated and supported the school. This year’s Honorary Chair was Mrs. Jane Cannon, who captured our Sacred Heart history in Two Hundred Years: A Legacy of Love and Learning, which was published last summer.
Sincere appreciation to Chemin 2018 sponsors, donors, committee chairs, volunteers and guests. And a very special thanks to Kathleen Carroll Parvis ’85 for helping us to observe the impact of one–one vision, one dedicated community, one brave woman, one shining star. Our Bicentennial Chemin de Fer was indeed a memorable one that we will long remember!
