To celebrate American Archives Month we are sharing some throwback photos from our archives.
These pictures are from the scrapbook of Helen Merx, class of 1920. The pictures were taken before the Spanish Flu (1918-1920) in 1916. It turns out this past spring was not the first time Academy students had to engage in remote learning. In February of 1818 and again in March 1920, the Board of Health temporarily closed schools, churches and all public places in St. Charles and day students had to complete their schoolwork at home. Our strong Sacred Heart spirit continues to live on in our third century and second pandemic.
