In a tradition dating back decades, each Academy family is invited to provide a basket of food for those in need. As we joyfully anticipate Jesus’ birth during Advent, assembling items for a food basket can become special family activity. When P-8 students, faculty, staff, parents, alums and friends gather for CHRISTMAS BASKET MASS on Thursday, Dec. 21 in Rauch Memorial, hundreds of bountiful baskets on the bleachers will illustrate the great generosity of our families. This is a prayerful way to part before the holidays and an opportunity to realize the abundance of our blessings.
Families, when assembling your food basket, please use a sturdy container (e.g. laundry basket, plastic trash can or tub), and plan to include at least one meat item (e.g. turkey or ham) that will be kept chilled by our receiving crew.
- Items on this GROCERY SHOPPING LIST are offered as an aid in assembling a food basket.
- Alumni will lend support to this effort by assembling food baskets the evening before Basket Mass, on Wednesday, Dec. 20 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the White Center.
- Volunteers will be on hand to help unload and transport food baskets in your regular car pool line on Wednesday, Dec. 20 from 3:45–5 p.m. and on Thursday, Dec. 21 from 6:30–8 a.m.
- Dismissal for Christmas break will be at 11:30 a.m. (NO LATE DISMISSAL)
All are welcome to celebrate Christmas Basket Mass with us!
