Dear Parents,
Today is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, the day when children of the Sacred Heart, throughout the world and for generations, honor Mary by carrying lilies and candles in a procession which culminates in a prayer of dedication:
O Mary, I give you the lily of my heart. Be its guardian forever.
We honor Mary because she models for us the attitudes of heart and mind that have gifted the world God’s FULLEST self-revelation. The feast formally celebrates that she was conceived with the capacity to do so perfectly.
The children chosen for the procession are those who are working hard to do so as well. They are working hard, in their daily duties and ongoing interactions, to be a Christ-bearer.
Let us all give Mary the lily of our hearts, let us all be open-hearted such that we, too, like Mary, reveal God through our lives and loves and through our daily attitudes and actions! Amen!
See you all at Silver Tea,
