Thanks, Main Street Books! The Academy recently received a $1,000 grant from the St. Charles bookstore, enabling us to purchase beautiful replacement books for some of our worn-out classics, teacher wish list books, all of the Mark Twain nominees for 2015 that have a wait list to check them out, some of the Show Me nominees for 2015 that the younger children are enjoying at library time, and several brand new books that have just been released and suggested as some of the best books of the coming year.
Main Street Books, through its relationship with Scholastic, Inc., was fortunate to welcome Dav Pilkey, author of the popular Captain Underpants series, in August for a stock signing. Through the generosity of Mr. Pilkey and his wife, the store received a grant that enabled them to offer a $1,000 retail credit to schools in the St. Louis/St. Charles area that have a working relationship with the store. We’re very grateful to Main Street Books for choosing the Academy of the Sacred Heart as the grant recipient!
