Dear Parents,
A Sacred Heart education is differentiated by, among other things, the following:
- The Charism of the Society of the Sacred Heart – which invites us to be open to the experience of, and united to, Christ in a very personal way. Madeleine Sophie Barat (foundress of the Society) called this ‘an interior life.’ Prayer and contemplation are the path to this interior experience which is ultimately an experience of God’s Love. Pope Francis uses the word Encounter to describe the same thing.
- The Internationality of the Society – which invites us to be open to the world with a loving heart. This connection with the international Society both forms and informs how and to what we educate.
Last week I was privileged to attend a Conference of Sacred Heart educators which combines both of the above. The conference brought together Heads of Sacred Heart schools the world over with a focus on the education of children to the interior life.
This VIDEO provides a flavor of the meeting. More importantly, the takeaways from this experience will be woven into much of what I will continue to share as we all continue to grow in our understanding of the depth and breadth of Sacred Heart education.
