Discovering Janet Erskine Stuart through her Equine Legacy

Mother Janet Stuart was multi-faceted. One aspect of life that she knew and loved deeply: her life-long love of horses. This installment of The Stuart Conferences, the 2013–2014 Sacred Heart Spirituality and History Series, will be presented by Lyn Osiek, rscj. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. for coffee and goûter, prayer and presentation begin at 9:45 and conclusion by 11:15. All are welcome.

Lyn Osiek, RSCJ, is the Archivist for the Society of the Sacred Heart, U.S. Province, and Charles Fischer Professor of New Testament emerita of the Brite Divinity School at Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, Tex. She holds a doctorate in New Testament and Christian Origins from Harvard University and is a past president of the Catholic Biblical Association and the Society of Biblical Literature. She is author or editor of 12 books on New Testament and Early Church topics. An alumna of the Academy of the Sacred Heart, Sr. Osiek has taught at the Sacred Heart schools at Grand Coteau, La.; Newton Country Day Academy, Newton, Mass.; and Villa Duchesne. In addition, she has served on the boards of trustees at the Sacred Heart schools at Sheridan Road, Chicago, Ill.; Barat College, Lake Forest, Ill.; and Maryville University. She is presently a board member at Academy of the Sacred Heart, St. Charles; Duchesne Academy, Houston, Tex.; and the University of San Diego.
